Carpal Tunnel Syndrome...

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a condition resulting from pressure on the median nerve in the wrist.

Symptoms can include:

• Numbness in the palm, thumb, index finger, middle finger and/or thumb side of the ring finger

• Weakened grip or difficulty carrying bags

• Stiffness in the fingers in the morning

• Tapping over the median nerve at the wrist may cause pain to shoot from the wrist into the hand.

Sprain...

A sprain is damage to the wrist or hand ligaments from a movement or impact that stretches them beyond their normal range of motion.

Symptoms can include:

• Pain in the wrist

• Hearing or feeling a pop or tear at the moment of injury

• Tenderness and warmth in the injured area

• Discoloration - redness or bruising - at the injury site

Arthritis...

Arthritis is painful inflammation within a joint.

Symptoms of arthritis of the wrist or hand can include:

• Painful joints in the wrist, hand or fingers

• Restricted mobility

• Weakness in the hand or wrist

• Grinding or clicking may be heard or felt with joint movement.

• Bony nodules can develop at the middle joint of the finger and at the end joints of the finger.

Fracture...

A fracture is a break in one or more bones in the wrist or hand.

Symptoms can include:

• Localized pain in the wrist or hand

• Swelling in the wrist or hand

• Discoloration - bruising or redness - in the wrist or hand

• Wrist or hand tenderness

• The wrist or hand may be deformed or look out of position
